The BJP MP representing Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, Pradan Barua was shown black flags at Filobari under Doom Dooma police station in Tinsukia district of Assam on Friday.
People belonging to several organisations who were protesting against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, attached black flags on the vehicle of the MP. The protesters shouted slogans like – “BJP go back”, “Pradan Baruah Murdabaad”.

As the protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has intensified and spread far and wide in the state after the bill had been passed in Lok Sabha on January 8 by the BJP-led NDA government defying sustained mass opposition to it in Assam and the rest of Northeast.
The protesters in the state have been directing their ire to prominent BJP leaders whenever they get the opportunity.

Black flags were waved at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his assembly constituency, Majuli on Monday, January 14, in protests against the Bill and same this happened in Mangaldai on January 17 even as the Chief Minister has been trying to quell the raging protests promising constitutional safeguard to indigenous population in the state.
In an obvious attempt to derive mileage of the volatile situation in Assam Valley, the opposition Congress has been trying to add fuel to the agitation by launching attack on the BJP even though the Congress leaders in Barak Valley including MP Sushmita Dev and Rahul Roy have expressed their support to the Citizenship Bill.
