An incident of cash loot by miscreants from a local trader has taken place at Kharupetia in Assam’s Darrang district in broad day light on Monday.

The incident has unleashed a kind of fear psychosis among the business community of Kharupetia town, the business hub of Darrang district.

The victim of the incident Ranjit Kr Sil, a local trader and a resident of Tilapatti area of the town informed media that two unidentified miscreants on a Pulsar bike snatched away the bag containing a total of Rs 3.90 lakh in cash.

According to information he and his friend Abdul Hamid were coming out of the Canara Bank branch along the busy Mahavir Road after withdrawing an amount of Rs 1,90,000 from his account and another amount of Rs two lakh given by his friend Abdul Hamid.

Two youths wearing helmets on a black Pulsar motorcycle snatched away the bag with cash in the presence of many persons including Hamid.

Police rushed to the spot and launched a massive manhunt but no arrest has been made till filing of the report in late Monday evening.

The locals have alleged about rise of such snatching incident in the town in recent times and demanded safety and security of their property.
