Assam: Bhutan, Nepal, B’desh, SL, Thailand to join CEM Football Cup

The International CEM Football Cup will be organised at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium, Diphu, in the month of December this year.

This was announced by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang on Saturday.

Football clubs from Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand have already confirmed their participation.

Ronghang informed about this at a function organized on the occasion of distribution of cheques to sub-associations of Karbi Anglong Sports Association in the district.

CEM Ronghang also said, “In order to encourage the upcoming players in the district, the KAAC has been trying to establish a sports culture in Karbi Anglong. To keep fit, we should involve ourselves in any discipline of sports.”

The KAAC CEM also said, “One-time scholarship for sportspersons representing the district will also be given from next year.”

Cheques for Rs 50,000 were distributed among all 50 sub-associations of Karbi Anglong and a cheque for Rs 1 lakh was given to the KASA.

Chingthong-based boxing club was given boxing materials by CEM Ronghang which was received by Executive Member (EM) of KAAC, Prodip Rongpi.

The programme was also attended by the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Baithalangso constituency, Mansing Rongpi, EMs, MACs, general secretary of KASA, Pankaj Teron along with executive members of KASA.

Earlier, during a meet at Diphu in May, CEM Ronghang said with Diphu Sports Complex of Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) to be ready by November or December this year, the CEM Gold Cup would be hosted.
