Assam: BCPL organises Cyclothon in Dibrugarh to create awareness on oil and gas conservation

The Cyclothon is being flagged off.

The Brahmaputra Cracker Polymer Limited (BCPL) organised a Cyclothon in Dibrugarh as part of its Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav (SAKSHAM 2021).

BCPL has been celebrating Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav (SAKSHAM-2021) since January 16 in line with the guidelines of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the Union ministry of petroleum & natural gas.

The celebration of SAKSHAM-2021 will continue till February 15, 2021.

The Cyclothon was organised in Dibrugarh in association with Dibrugarh Cycling Club and Sivasagar Cycling Community (Senergy) to create public awareness on oil and gas conservation, protection of environment and physical fitness.

More than 350 cyclists participated in the event including few national level cyclists across Northeast.

The 25 km long Cyclothon started from Chowkidingee field, Dibrugarh and ended at BCPL Township, Barbaruah.

On that occasion, Marcellina Sangma (Meghalaya) and Hemanta Kumar Senapati (Duliajan) were invited as chief guests.

Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, BCPL managing director Reep Hazarika, BCPL director (finance) Pruthiviraj Dash flagged off the cycle rally on Sunday at Chowkidingee field in Dibrugarh.

At the beginning of the event, BCPL (HR) Asit Das welcomed all the participants and spoke about the judicious use and conservation of petroleum products and also spoke about the health benefits of cycling.

At the end of the programme, certificates were distributed to all the participants of Cyclothon.

Prior to the event, BCPL also organized an awareness session by Padma Shri Jadav Payeng under ‘SAKSHAM 2021’ among school students.
