Assam: Baksa Police recover arms, ammunition ahead of BTC polls

The Baksa Police in Assam recovered two AK series rifles, magazines and ammunition during an operation.

According to Baksa Police, the operation was conducted on Friday night and the arms and ammunition were recovered from a place near Sinari basti on the bank of river Diring under Barbari police station.

“Baksa Police in its efforts to make the district Arms free has yet again recovered 02 AK-47 Rifle, 04 magazine and 520 rounds of live AK ammunition on the night of 25th September 2020, near Sinari basti on the banks of river Diring under Barbari PS,” Baksa Police tweeted on Saturday.

Baksa superintendent of police, Hiranya Barman said: “Baka police have recovered the arms and ammunition during an operation on Friday night after its success to recover a huge number of arms and ammunition at Simla in the district a few days back.”

The SP informed that the operation was conducted under the leadership of Baksa additional superintendent of police (headquarters) Lamhao Dungel.

He shared that the arms and ammunition were dug out by the police team from Sinari basti on the bank of river Diring under Barbari PS.

Barman said: “The operation was launched on the basis of secret information. Two AK-47 rifles, 4 magazines and 520 rounds of live AK ammunition have been recovered.”

Sensation prevails after the recovery of the arms and ammunition ahead of the BTC polls.

Barman said: “Before the BTC polls, recovery of the huge amount of arms and ammunition is a great success of Baksa Police.”

“Baksa Police are making their best efforts to make the district illegal arms-free so that the people of the district can live peacefully and feel secured,” the SP added.
