The BJP vice president of Baksa district, Jaminee Swargiary died in a road mishap at Tamulpur.
The road mishap took place on the Rangia-Tamulpur-Bhutan National Highway in front of Tamulpur Higher Secondary School.
The vice president of Baksa BJP, Jaminee Swargiary was around 60 years old.
According to sources, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta was scheduled to come to Tamulpur sub-division to inspect the site of the proposed Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital on Monday.
Along with other BJP leaders and workers, Jaminee Swargiary was also on the way with her daughter Prabha Swargiary on her scooty to the health minister’s scheduled programme.
As the scheduled programme was cancelled, Jaminee Swargiary was returning home along with her daughter.
But her scooty was mowed down by a trailer truck (No PB-10-CZ-9091) on her way from Rangia to Tamulpur.
Jaminee Swargiary and her daughter received serious injuries in the road mishap.
Swargiary was immediately taken to the Tamulpur Primary Health Centre and after providing aid, she was taken to Rangia for better treatment.
But she passed away during treatment in a private nursing home at Rangia.
Her seriously injured daughter is still undergoing treatment at Rangia.
Jaminee Swargiary, a resident of Bhakatpara in Tamulpur, was the wife of former Baksa district BJP president, late Lob Ram Swargiary.
