Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday accused the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of ruining the county by selling the pubic assets.

Addressing an election campaign rally for Congress’ Naharkatia candidate Pranati Phukan at Namrup Gandhi field on Tuesday, Bhupesh Baghel hit out at BJP government for emotionally exploiting the people.

“No public assets and industries are safe in the country till the BJP is in power. They have failed to set up the 4th Unit of Namrup Fertilizer plant. The BJP government is selling the public property to the private parties,” Baghel said.

“BJP is a party of ‘jumla’; they only announce but in reality, they have done nothing for the people,” Baghel said.

“If you vote to Congress then your Namrup Fertilizer plant will survive, otherwise, it will be sold to private parties for sure,” Baghel said.

Criticising Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Chhattisgarh chief minister Baghel said the BJP government in Assam has been involved in “syndicate raj”.

Hitting out at the BJP, Baghel said the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government in Assam has failed to fulfil their promises in the last five years.

“They have promised to increase wages of tea garden workers up to Rs 351 but they failed to increase the wage in the last five years. Recently, they increased the wage to Rs 217 but the workers are not getting the increased amount,” he said.

“BJP makes only fake promises but we fulfil our promises. If our party is voted to power in Assam, our party wil fulfill all the ‘5 Guarantees’ promised by Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Assam,” Baghel said.

Naharkatia constituency is likely to witness a triangular contest among the BJP, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Congress in the election.

Baghel also came down heavily on Union home minister Amit Shah for his speech where he attacked the protestors in Assam.

“Agitation and protest will not stop in Assam till we don’t get the 4th Unit at BVFCL Namrup. BJP is a threat to the identity, culture and history of Assam. They will implement CAA if they come to power again in Assam. If we are voted to power in Assam, we will withdraw CAA,” Baghel said.
