Kanhaiya Kumar, the National executive council Member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), on Friday urged the voters of Assam to not choose any party which divides people.
Addressing a public meeting at Silcoorie Nachghar in Cachar, Kanhiaya said, “In this country, we all have equal rights and hence, people in Assam must not elect any party (hinting at the BJP) which divides people.”
Kanhaiya was in Cachar to campaign for the Assam Assembly election’s AIUDF candidate Karim Uddin Barbhuiya.
Upon arrival, Kanhaiya reached the CPI office at Bhuiya gadi area in Janiganj he headed for the historic Baram Baba temple at Silcoorie tea garden area.
The CPI has joined hands with the Mahajoth (grand alliance) that includes Congress, AIUDF, Jimochayan (Deori) People’s Party (JDPP), Adivasi National Party (ANP), CPI (Marxist), CPI (ML), Anchalik Gana Morcha, BPF and RJD.
Assam will go to polls in three phases with polls due on March 27, April 1 and April 6.
Polling will begin at 7 am on Saturday in 47 constituencies across 12 districts in the first phase of the Assam Assembly elections.
