A total of 39 constituencies out of the remaining 79 are going to polls in the second phase of the Assam Assembly election on April 1 (Thursday).
In the first phase, 47 seats went to polls in the 126-member assembly.
There are a total of 345 candidates including 26 women are in the fray for the second phase of the election spread over 13 districts.
BJP is contesting in 34 of the 39 seats while its alliance partners the AGP in six.
The Congress is contesting in 28 seats and its allies AIUDF and BPF in seven and four seats respectively.
Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) is contesting in 19 seats. A total of 176 independents are contesting in the second phase.
Some of the key Congress candidates in the fray are former minister Siddeque Ahmed (Karimganj South), sitting MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha (Karimganj North), former minister Ajit Singh (Udharband), APCC spokesperson Kishor Bhattacharyya (Kamalpur) and former minister Basanta Das (Mangaldai)
Some key BJP candidates are Gautam Roy (Katigorah), Aminul Haque Laskar (Sonai), Parimal Suklabaidya (Dholai), Nandita Garlosa (Haflong), Nomal Momin (Bokajan) , Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), Bhabesh Kalita (Rangiya), Jayanta Malla Barua (Nalbari) Biswajit Daimary (Panery) Piyush Hazarika (Jagiroad) Ramakanta Deori (Morigaon) and Paramananda Rajbongshi (Sipajhar).
The key AIUDF candidates include former MP Sirajuddin Ajmal, sitting MLA Suzamuddin Laskar (Katlicherra) and Nizamuddin Choudhury (Algapur).
The polling would begin at 7 am and conclude at 6 pm on April 1.
According to the state election commission, the constituency with the highest number of electors in Phase II is Hojai. It has 373 polling stations and 2,65,886 voters.
The constituency having the lowest number of electors is Howraghat in Karbi Anglong district with 195 polling stations and 1,32,339 electors.
