AGP president has been booked for violating the Model Code of Conduct while campaigning for his party’s candidate Jayanta Khaund.

An FIR is being lodged against AGP president Atul Bora in the Naoboicha constituency for violation of the Assam Assembly election Model Code of Conduct.

The FIR was filed by the Returning Officer of 111 Naoboicha LAC at North Lakhimpur Police Station, ECI officials said.

The AGP president has been booked for violating the Model Code of Conduct while campaigning for his party’s candidate Jayanta Khaund in Jubanagar HS field, Naoboicha on March 22, said an official.

The FIR was lodged based on a report submitted by the In-Charge of MCC Cell, Assam Assembly Election, 2021.

According to the report, AGP’s star campaigner Atul Bora while campaigning for party candidate Jayanta Khaund was seen repudiating the secrecy of voting and intimidating the voters in an election rally at Jubananar.

Further, Bora was allegedly violated Section 123(2) (a) (ii) of the Representation of People Act, 1951 during his speech.
