All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesman Gourav Ballabh on Monday claimed the party will win 37 seats in the first phase of the Assam Assembly election 2021.
Congress leader Gourav Ballabh made the claim of winning 37 seats in the first phase of the Assam election during a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati, the headquarters of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).
The polling for 47 Assembly seats in the first phase of the Assam Assembly election was held on March 27, 2021.
The second and third phases of the Assembly election will be held on April 1 and April 6, 2021.
Speaking in the tune of Gourav Ballabh, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora told reporters that the Congress will definitely win more than 30 seats in the first phase of the Assam Assembly election.
Addressing the reporters at Rajiv Bhawan, Assam Congress president Bora thanked the people of Assam who came out in large numbers to vote in the first phase of the Assembly election.
Regarding the BJP advertisement, published in the Sunday editions of 7 newspapers of Assam, where the BJP claimed that it would win most of the seats in the first phase, Ripun Bora questioned: “In what situation, the BJP had to tell about their “win” by publishing advertisement?”
The Congress has submitted memorandums to the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Assam regarding the publication of the advertisement just a day after the polling of the first phase of the Assam Assembly election.
The chairman of the legal department of the APCC on Sunday filed an FIR against BJP leaders, including party’ national president JP Nadda, state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Soonowal seeking action for violation of the provisions of the Section 126A of the Representation of People Act, 1951 and instructions of the Election Commission.
While thanking the voters of the first phase of the poll, Assam Congress president Ripun Bora said, “I thank the people of Assam for coming to exercise their franchise resulting in the increase of the voter turnout to 80%.”
“Fearing a defeat in the first phase of the election and to cover up their failures, the BJP had to take help of such an advertisement,” the Assam Congress president said.
Expressing thanks to the people of Assam and giving an assurance, Congress spokesman Gourav Vallabh said, “Now, the people of Assam will not get attracted towards BJP’s fake advertisements and allurements. This time, Congress will form the government in Assam with 5 guarantees.”
