With the Assam Assembly by-polls slated for October 30 in 5 Assembly seats, former MLA Emmanuel Mosahary is all set to fight for the Tamulpur seat.
While BJP is contemplating leaving the seat for its ally United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), former MLA Emmanuel Mosahary and BJP leader, if fails to get a ticket from his party, is mulling to contest independently with support from his supporters cutting across party lines, sources said.

In the Tamulpur constituency, the UPPL may project Bipul Kumar Basumatary, who is known to be a close associate of party president Pramod Boro.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress is also contemplating spreading its tentacles in Assam and may field former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) MCLA Rabin Bala Biswas, who is a popular face among the people, specifically Bengali Hindu voters, who form a major chunk of voters in Tamulpur constituency.
Biswas narrowly lost the last BTC council polls when he contested independently.

Sources said Emmanuel Mosahary, despite joining the saffron party before the BTC council polls, has been cornered in the party.
“Considering his support base at the grassroot level, Emmanual Mosahary is likely to emerge as a strong contender even as an independent candidate,” sources said.
