The stateโ€™s vigilance and anti-corruption wing arrested 32 public servants in 2025 on graft charges

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 10 said the stateโ€™s vigilance and anti-corruption wing arrested 32 public servants in 2025 on graft charges. He reiterated that his government follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

Sarma shared the details in a post on social media platform X. He said the government will not compromise on integrity in public service.

โ€œSeedhi Baat, No Bakwas. Assam does not tolerate corruption,โ€ the chief minister wrote.

He said the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption conducted 29 trap operations during the year. These operations led to the arrest of 32 government officials.

Sarma said the vigilance department carried out record interventions to ensure corruption does not thrive in the state.

โ€œOfficials were caught red-handed. Authorities chargesheeted 100 per cent of the cases. The message is clear,โ€ he said.

The chief minister said the government will continue to take strict action against officials who misuse their positions.
