A huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from inside a reserve forest in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Saturday, officials said.
Acting on specific information, an operation by a team of police was launched in the Tipkai reserve forest areas under Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar district and recovered the arms.
The arms were hidden beneath bamboo grove by the suspected Bodo militants in the forests.
Rakesh Roushan, SP Kokrajhar said that during search operation police recovered, one AK series rifle , two AK series magazines, one polythene sheet used for wrapping and covering the rifle and magazine to which lubricant was applied and 30 of AK series ammunition in a plastic container half filled with rice husk.”
The recovered arms and ammunition were seized in presence of independent witnesses, he said.
The SP added that necessary follow up actions are being taken.
