In a joint operation, launched by Kokrajhar police, 166 Bn of Territorial Army and 25th Rajput Regiment nabbed a suspected armed cadre of a Muslim fundamentalist organization in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.
On specific information received on Saturday at about 3 am, an operation was carried out by the Kokrajhar police, 166 Bn TA and 25th Rajput Regiment in Debottar Khopati part- II village under Kazigaon police station in Kokrajhar district under BTAD in Assam.
They conducted a thorough search operation at the house of one Abdul Khaleqe Mandal, aged 22 years, son of Moullah Baks of Debottor Khopati Part -II village under Kazigaon police station in Kokrajhar district suspecting him to be a cadre of a Muslim fundamental organization, said the chief PRO of Assam Police.
The CPRO of Assam Police informed that on Saturday, at 7 am, the joint operation team recovered and seized one 7.65 pistol, 5 round of live ammunition and one magazine from the possession of Mandal in presence of available witnesses and arrested him.
In this connection, a case has been registered at the Kokrajhar police station, vide Kazigaon PS case no. 01/2020 under section 25 (1-A) of the Arms Act and the investigation is going on, the police said.
