Guwahati: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has announced a 36-hour shutdown of its digital infrastructure to carry out a major cloud migration exercise.
In a communication issued on February 25, the power utility said all public-facing platforms and internal operational systems will remain inaccessible from 9 p.m. on February 28 to 9 a.m. on March 2. The temporary suspension is part of a broader technology upgrade aimed at improving efficiency, scalability and overall service delivery.
Several key platforms used by electricity consumers across the state will be affected during the maintenance window. These include ARMS, the Consumer Portal, EasyPay, MyBijulee and BijuleeBandhu, along with other integrated applications within APDCLโs service ecosystem. Consumers will not be able to access these portals for bill payments, recharge services, complaint registration or account management during the scheduled downtime.
The shutdown will apply to both consumer-facing applications and internal administrative systems, which may also impact field operations and backend processes for the duration of the upgrade.
Anticipating inconvenience, APDCL has issued a specific advisory for prepaid electricity consumers, urging them to maintain sufficient account balance before the shutdown to avoid disruption in power supply. The advisory is particularly relevant for households and commercial establishments using prepaid smart meters.
While expressing regret for the temporary disruption, the utility said the migration to a cloud-based infrastructure is essential to enhance system resilience, strengthen data security and improve service reliability. Officials indicated that the upgrade would also reduce downtime risks and enable smoother integration of future digital services.
The planned outage marks a significant step in APDCLโs transition towards a more robust, technology-driven operational framework, even as consumers are advised to make necessary arrangements during the 36-hour upgrade period.
