“The affected medical staff were inside when the quarantined inmates at Telahi Hospital broke the barricades and came outside the wards and littered the premise,” Dutta said.
The other positive persons are Biswajeet Kuli, a pharmacist, Ashoke Tawe and Lalit Sonowal—both Grade IV employees.
All four of them have been kept in quarantine in a hotel in North Lakhimpur after seven days of their duty at Telahi hospital.
All of them since have been shifted to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, said Dutta.
Earlier, another doctor Hashid Zaman, who was in charge of the quarantine centre at OPD College, Panigaon tested COVID-19 positive on June 3.
The testing of COVID positive of serving doctors and health workers infected by the unruly acts by quarantined inmates in hospitals have evoked strong resentment amongst the people in Lakhimpur.
However, no case has been registered against the trouble makers at Telahi COVID Hospital and OPD College quarantine centre.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Lakhimpur district has climbed up to 71.
