At a time when sensation continues to prevail in Goalpara following Monday’s incident of boat capsize, another boat mishap occurred in river Brahmaputra in the district in which two persons including a child have gone missing on Tuesday.
The incident of boat capsize occurred at Birsing Helengar char under Pancharatna Police Station in Goalpara district.
According to information, a country boat capsized in the middle of river Brahmaputra when it was going from Birsing Helengar char towards Khankhowa Pratham Khanda char in Goalpara district at 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
There were three persons in the boat including 29-year-old Iman Ali, 37-year-old Billal Hussain and a minor, 7-year-old Amina Khatun.
Though Iman Ali could luckily save his life, the two others including the child have gone missing.
Though the Pancharatna River Police was intimated about the boat mishap in river Brahmaputra, the police informed that it would not be possible to launch any search operation in the river at night.
The locals became furious at the police as they refused to take stock of the situation by visiting the area of the incident.
Though the locals have started a search operation on their own till filing of this report, the missing duo has not been traced so far.
A pall of gloom has descended in the area after the incident.
It may be mentioned that on Monday, a one-and-a-half year old infant drowned in river Brahmaputra as a country boat capsized near Rakhaldubi Ancholik Bazar in West Goalpara at around at 4pm.
The boat was reportedly carry 15 passengers and was trying to cross a tributary of the Brahmaputra when the mishap had taken place.
The girl died as she slipped from the hands of her grandparents when the boat suddenly capsized in deep waters.
However, the other 14 passengers managed to swim and saved themselves from drowning.
