The All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonawal for failure of right time to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and Kamatapur state to the people of Koch Rajbongshi community.

Earlier Modi promised to grant the ST status within six months during last MLAs election in the year of 2014.

The AKRSU activists took out the rally from Dimolgaon AKRSU office to Kadamtola Kokrajhar to Karigaon road and burned effigies of PM and CM  at Kadamtola bazaar and shouted slogans for not fulfilling the assurances which the BJP govt promised during last MLAs election.

Talking to reporters, Kankon Ray president of Kokrajhar District Committee AKRSU said that they have slammed the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Chief Minister for telling lies and burnt effigies of them and demanding to grant ST within the short period of time and Kamatapur state to community’s long pending issues.

Ray said that today we burnt the effigies for the false promises to grant ST status to Koch-Rajbongshi community so we are compelled to call Assam bandh on 8 January to pressurize PM, Home minister and CM on the issue.

He also said that if the Prime minister, Home minister and Chief Minister fails to grant ST and Kamatapur long pending demands of the Koch-Rajbongshi community within the short span of time then alliance Govt BJP, AGP and BPF parties will not be allowed to enter our Koch-Rajbongshi villages and we will vote against that alliance groups and they will not be able to win their candidates in forth coming Lok Sabha election which is going to be held this year.
