The All Assam Jatiytabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has strongly condemned the inflammatory statement made recently by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in which she claimed that a civil war like situation would occur in the country after the publication of the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.
While talking to Northeast Now, Hemen Chakraborty, vice-president of AJYCP said, “The entire NRC update process is being carried out under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court of India and the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee by passing inflammatory comments on the burning problem faced by Assam since the last couple of decades has directly tried to raise the finger of suspicion on the monitoring system of the apex court. So, she should be arrested immediately.”

Chakraborty further also alleged that Mamata Banerjee, who is totally unaware of the ground reality of Assam, is trying to create unrest in Assam and slammed the move without any knowledge but only to get a political mileage.
“More than three days since the publication of final draft of NRC in Assam, which was published on July, 30, not a single report of any minor incident of any clash from any part of Assam has so far been surfaced and all the linguistic people are passing their days in a peaceful manner and despite it, the West Bengal Chief Minister is only trying to mislead the common people and trigger chaos in Assam,” the AJYCP leader alleged.

The organisation asked her to take care of West Bengal and not to interfere into the matter of Assam. “Why was Mamata making such inflammatory statement when Hindi and Bengali-speaking people residing in Assam have not complained about NRC?” questioned the AJYCP leader.
He added, “The people of Assam are still alive to take care of their problems and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee should not lose her sleep thinking about Assam.”
While lambasting Mamata Banerjee-led Government in West Bengal, the AJYCP vice-president said that if Banerjee really wants to help the Bengali-speaking people of Assam then she should send back the large number of documents after proper verification to the NRC offices in Assam which were sent earlier to her State by the NRC authority for verification during the update process of NRC.
