DIBRUGARH: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi has formally filed his nomination papers for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, backed by a coalition of several parties, marking the official commencement of his electoral campaign.

A rally was organised by the supporters of the opposition parties, including the Congress, the CPI-M and Raijor Dal, prior to the filing of nomination by Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.

On the opposing front, Sarbananda Sonowal, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a union minister, entered the electoral arena by filing his nomination papers for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.

As the electoral process unfolds in Assam, it spans three phases to ensure a fair and orderly election process.

The first phase is slated for April 19, with the official election notification issued on March 20.

Nominations must be filed by March 27, followed by scrutiny on March 28, and the withdrawal deadline on March 30.

Transitioning to the second phase on April 26, the notification date remains March 28. Nomination papers are due by April 4, with scrutiny on April 5, and the withdrawal deadline on April 8.

The final phase of the Assam elections is scheduled for May 7, with the notification date set for April 12.

Nomination papers for this phase must be filed by April 19, scrutiny on April 20, and the withdrawal deadline on April 22.

Notable contenders in the upcoming elections include Sarbananda Sonowal from the BJP, Lurinjyoti Gogoi from the AJP, and Gaurav Gogoi representing the Congress party.
