All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has demanded that those involved in Rituparna Pegu’s murder in Guwahati be hanged.
Besides, Ajmal has demanded that the case be tried in a fast-track court.

The Dhubri MP in a video message said: “I am deeply hurt at the brutal killing of 24-year-old Rituparna Pegu by 3-4 persons in broad daylight at Noonmati area in Guwahati on Friday.”
Ajmal said, “I have never heard of such incidents ever happened in Guwahati.”
“I pay homage to Pegu who has left behind his wife, Elina Pegu, and a 9-month-old child,” Ajmal said, adding, “We stand in solidarity with Pegu’s family.”

“I have not heard of any such incident ever happened in our state, Assam,” the Dhubri MP said.
Strongly condemning the brutal killing, Ajmal announced that the Ajmal Foundation would extend financial support of Rs 1 lakh to late Pegu’s family.
Ajmal said, “I have heard 4 persons have been arrested for their involvement in the case. We demand that the case be tried in fast-track court for speedy justice and the culprits must be hanged until death.”
Rituparana was killed by a group of around five persons, including a minor, following an argument that took place at a shop in Noonmati. The whole incident was captured in CCTV cameras.
Pegu’s murder has been widely condemned across the country and several organizations have hit the streets demanding justice.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday ordered a probe into the incident by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police.
Guwahati Police on Saturday informed that five persons – Hussain Ali, Dulal Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manuwara Khatun and Arman Ali – were arrested in connection with the murder.
A case (No 294/20 u/s 147/148/149/302 of IPC) has been registered at Noonmati police station and the investigation is underway.
