Notably, the apprehended individuals had come to India several years back and used to stay at Dumdum in West Bengal.

However, according to reports, when their visa expired way back in 2017, they moved to Assam and made Patharkandi in Karimganj their dwelling as well as hiding place.

The Afghan nationals have been identified as Bahadur Khan and Shir Khan.

Notably, the foreigners managed to procure PAN card, aadhaar card and birth certificates in Karimganj district of Assam.

Acccording to police, both have confessed that they are originally from Afghanistan and they had travelled to India legally on business purpose.

However, luring business prospects prompted them to stay back even after expiry of their visa.

The duo has also confessed to have procured forged documents to prove their Indian citizenship.

Now the big question is when even genuine Indian citizens need to prove their citizenship, these foreigners managed to get all requisite documents in Karimganj of Assam.

This goes on to prove how corrupt the government machinery is in this State.

Notably, these two Afghan nationals sneaked into Assam and made Karimganj their home at a time when the present Sarbananda Sonowal government took the reins of power. What’s more they have managed to procure forged documents when the government is making tall claims of zero tolerance against corruption.
