The 11th anniversary of the UK and Europe’s largest South Asian film festival, supported by the Bagri Foundation and the British Film Institute (BFI) was held online during the global COVID-19 pandemic this year.

The festival included several LGBTQ+ films, women helmed films, films from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, as well as the buzzing Satyajit Ray Short Film competition, with a jury of high profile film pundits, who deliberated over Zoom.

Among the others, Deepa Mehta and Shabana Azmi were conferred with the ICON Achievement Award.

Along with Adil, Freida Pinto and Vidya Balan were also conferred with Outstanding Achievement.

Meanwhile, Mississippi Masala (1991) by Mira Nair, starring Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury won the ‘Audience Favourite’ Award followed by Satyajit Ray short film winner – Darling.
