The students’ body has threatened to go ahead with an agitational programme if the culprits were not arrested within 24 hours.
Addressing media persons at a press conference held at Bodofa House in Kokrajhar, the general secretary of Kokrajhar district committee of ABSU, Swmdwn Brahma, said that despite lodging an FIR, the police are yet to take any action against the culprits.
The ABSU also criticised the Kokrajhar SP for allowing the culprits to “go scot-free”. The ABSU workers were assaulted during the third and final phase of Lok Sabha elections held in Kokrajhar on April 23 last.
The students’ body also urged the Returning officer of 5 No Kokrajhar (ST) HPC to “take action as per law pronto”.
Three ABSU workers – Ratan Basumatary, 22, Dhrubajit Brahma, 29, and Kwrwmdao Mushahary, 23, were seriously injured when they were allegedly attacked by BPF members.
The trio are presently undergoing treatment. The ABSU has registered FIR U/Sections 147/325/307/427 IPC.
