The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has demanded strict actions against Dibrugarh’s Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra accusing him of assaulting AASU workers without any valid reason in Dibrugarh.
AASU’s president, Dipanka Nath said, “There should be strict actions against the SP under law as he had assaulted several AASU workers in the district with no valid reason.”

Nath alleged that the SP had “picked-up” several workers from the Swahid Bhawan including some students who did not even belong to the AASu only to assault them.

He further said, “Not only did he assault the workers, the SP broke three batons in a night beating these students.”

Nath claimed that only a mentally ill person can do such a thing.
“We demand a high-level inquiry into the entire incident. The SP has to be punished for what he has done”, he added.

Nath also warned the government to take initiatives into the issue or else there will be “consequences”.
He also alleged that the police force entered the AASU office and set had foot at the ‘Swahid Bedi’.
“This was an insult to our martyrs”, Nath added.
