As many as 8 wards in Guwahati have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots. 

The eight which have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots are: Ward numbers – 3, 8, 14, 16, 24, 28, 29 and 31. 

Maximum number of COVID-19 cases in Guwahati, in recent days, have emerged from these wards. 

The localities that fall under these eight wards are: Beltola, Basistha, Fatashil AmbariBarshaparaDhirenparaKumarpara, AT Road, MachkhowaBhootnathKhanaparaPanjabariHatigaonUlubariRehabari, DGP Complex, BilparaSalapara, Pandu, MaligaonNarengi and Banda. 

Although, there is no official announcement, but these eight wards are likely to be declared as containment zones soon.

Guwahati in the last 20 days has recorded 17,690 COVID-19 positive cases and over 100 deaths. 

Meanwhile, Assam’s COVID-19 scenario continues to be grim. 

Assam recorded its highest single-day fatalities of 41 COVID-19 patients on Tuesday taking the total number of deaths to 1,430. 

4,475 new positive cases were detected on Tuesday, out of which 1,417 are from in and around Guwahati city.
