Morigaon Police arrested a total of 8 mobile tower battery lifters, who hail from different parts of Assam, recovered several batteries used in mobile towers.
According to information, on a tip-off, the Morigaon police carried out an operation recently against a gang of mobile tower battery thieves.

During the operation, a police team led by the in-charge of Nellie Police Outpost, Sub-Inspector Jyotirmoy Dutta, apprehended 4 mobile tower battery lifters the Nellie outpost area when they were planning to carry out burglary in Raha area under Nagaon district, stated Morigaon Police.
On the basis of their confessions, 3 other co-accused were nabbed from Sonapur. Later one more accused was also arrested by police.
The apprehended mobile tower battery lifters have been identified as Kadam Ali (Boko), Khalibur Ali (Nalbari), Nur Zamal (Boko), Moidul Islam (Boko), Gajibur Rahman (Sualkuch), Jamal Ali (Chaygaon) and Kayam Ali (Chaygaon) and Saddam Ali (Hajo, Kamrup).

According to information, the police also seized two vehicles – AS 01-DH-4573 and AS 25-CC-5685 – which were used by the burglars. Besides, the police also recovered metal wires and some money from the possession of the apprehended burglars.
The Morigaon Police on its Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “Based on input I/C Nellie SI Jyotirmoy Dutta along with staff apprehended 4 mobile tower battery lifters from Nellie OP area, when they were planning to carry out theft in Raha under Nagaon district. Based on interrogation another 3 co-accused were apprehended from Sonapur.”
