A total of eight people, including one minor girl, who were trafficked to Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir with a false promise of providing jobs, were brought back to Kokrajhar on Monday.

There they were engaged in various works against their wills, said SP Thube.

He said that they later called up their family members following which a police complaint was lodged.

The two accused –husband and wife- identified as Parbhat Kishna Thakur and Hailu alias Santi alias Reena Basumatary-of Dadgiri under Runikhata police station in Chirang district were arrested for their involvement in trafficking.
