Guwahati police have arrested five suspected inter-state drug peddlers in the city with a huge cache of drugs worth several crores of rupees, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.
Chief Minister Sarma in a series of tweets said that Guwahati Police, under the leadership of Joint Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta, carried out multiple operations and arrested the suspected drug peddlers.

In a major op, a special squad led by JCP Partha Mahanta intercepted a truck, and nabbed two members of an interstate drugs supply network. The squad has seized 70,000 World is Yours tablets.

Police said that the tablets are valued at around Rs 1.5 crore in the international market.

Acting on a specific input, a team of city police led by Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Partha Sarathi Mahanta launched an operation.
During the operation, the team managed to nab two members of an interstate drugs supply network and seize 70,000 World is Yours tablets.
In a separate incident, the police team nabs three interstate drugs dealers; one truck, one i20 car, cash and mobile phones.
