Digboi: The Paragadhar Chaliha Auditorium in Muliabari, Digboi, hosted the โMission Vasundhara 3.0โ digital land patta distribution program on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening land rights across Assam.
Organized by the Digboi district administration, the program formally handed over 491 land pattas (ownership certificates) to beneficiaries. Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, the chief guest, personally presented the documents, underscoring the governmentโs commitment to securing legal ownership for rightful citizens.
Earlier in the morning, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the headquarters of the 6th Assam Police Commando Battalion at Ambikapur, Sadiya, in Tinsukia district.
Built at a cost of Rs 160 crore on 331 bighas, the sprawling, state-of-the-art campus is designed to accommodate 400 commandos with world-class infrastructure and operational readiness.
The facility features a three-storey commandant building, advanced barracks for 254 commandos, 149 residential quarters, surveillance towers, parade grounds with a gallery, shooting ranges, classrooms with computer labs, indoor sports complexes, hospitals, schools, ration and clothing shops, ATMs, and Namghars.
CM Sarma highlighted that the campus demonstrates the governmentโs commitment to strengthening Assam Police and ensuring a safer Assam, equipped with modern training and operational facilities.
The third phase of the governmentโs flagship Mission Vasundhara, led by CM Sarma, aims to benefit 30,000 families statewide, following the success of the first two phases. The initiative focuses on securing legal land rights for indigenous residents, lawful citizens, educational and religious institutions, social organizations, and tribal communities residing on forest land.
In Digboi, 379 institutional pattas were issued to schools, healthcare centers, and social service organizations, while 112 individual land rights were granted to local residents.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Suren Phukan noted efforts to extend land entitlement to residents in tea garden areas. He also outlined his tenureโs achievements, including the construction and repair of around 900 roads, reconstruction of over 700 Namghars and 750 temples, and renovation of schools and colleges.
The program saw participation from dignitaries including Digboi Co-District Commissioner Phyllis V.L. Rangsall, Pavitra Bharali, Sanchita Chetia, educationist Hitendra Nath Sharma, Chairperson of Digboi Anchalik Panchayat Trishna Phukan Bairagi, Chairman of Digboi Municipality Sudvipta Dutta Chowdhury, along with panchayat representatives, administrative officers, and community leaders.
MLA Phukan noted that nearly one million people across Assam have already secured land rights under Mission Vasundhara, with the campaign set to expand further.
