Guwahati: At least four people lost their lives and ten others were injured when a passenger bus went out of control and collided with a tree in Assamโ€™s Karbi Anglong district early Saturday, officials reported.

The mishap took place near Lakkhijan, falling under the Bokajan police station area, as the bus was en route from Moirabari to Dimapur.

Authorities said the vehicle apparently skidded while taking a curve and struck a roadside tree, killing four passengers on the spot, including the driver.

Police teams reached the scene soon after being alerted and recovered the bodies, which were sent for post-mortem examination.

The injured, including a child, were rushed to a hospital in Dimapur for medical attention.

The victims who died have been identified as Abdul Barek, Khalil Rahman, Chabina Sultana, and Alal Uddin.

An investigation into the accident is currently underway to determine the exact cause.
