The Chabua police has arrested three persons from Chabua and Moran in Assam’s Dibrugarh district and recovered fake currency worth Rs 26 lakhs from them.

The accused were involved in the printing and circulation of fake currency.

They have been identified as Bipul Gohain, Utpal Saikia and Sanalata Chakraborty.

While Bipul Gohain and Utpal Saikia are residents of Chabua, Sanalata Chakraborty hails from Moran.

The accused were later produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

A police team led by officer-in-charge, Tulumoni Duorah conducted a raid in Chabua on Monday, during which they seized fake currency worth Rs 2 lakhs and arrested the accused persons.

During interrogation, they revealed about the fake currency being staked in a building in Moran.

The police later raided the premises of the building in Moran and recovered the rest of the fake currency along with a printer.
