Guwahati: The Sivasagar District Agriculture Department has opened a 24×7 Flood Control Room to support farmers facing crop losses due to the ongoing flood situation in Assam, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika said on July 20.
The facility will allow farmers to report damage to their crops, helping officials assess losses quickly and initiate steps for compensation and relief assistance.
The Control Room is operating under the guidance of the Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer, Sivasagar, with three Assistant Agricultural Inspectors assigned for coordination and public support. Hazarika said agriculture officials and field-level extension workers across the district have been instructed to conduct damage assessments and provide necessary support to affected cultivators.
He added that the department is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to assisting farmers and ensuring timely support during the flood crisis.
