Along with the rest of the state, the second phase of distribution of land pattas and land allotment certificates to the landless beneficiaries also begun in Darrang district on Monday.

In a function organised at the district library auditorium in Managaldai, Assam PHE Minister Rihan Daimary and Rajyasabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita distributed the pattas and land allocation certificates.

Pattas were distributed to a total of 2319 beneficiaries and land allocation certificates to 250 beneficiaries of the district.

The distribution programme was also attended by BJP legislators Gurujyoti Das and Binanda Kr Saikia, along with Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah and other senior officials of the revenue department.

Addressing the beneficiaries Minister Daimary termed it to be a historical step initiated by the BJP-led government in the state.

He said that this would help the beneficiaries immensely.

However, he warned them not to make any attempt to sell these allotted plots of land.
