At least 23 inmates of Dhubri District jail in Assam have tested COVID-19 positive on Wednesday. 

The 23 jail inmates who tested COVID-19 positive have been kept under isolation inside the jail premises. 

These 23 cases in the Dhubri district jail have emerged after conducting tests of 4 samples. 

Sources in the Dhubri district jail have informed that the remaining inmates would undergo tests soon.  

Meanwhile, Dhubri district in Assam, on Wednesday, recorded 109 new COVID-19 cases, taking the district’s total cases tally up to 4760.

There are currently 1247 active cases in the district. 

On the other hand, one more person died due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the districts death toll up to 51 in second wave of the pandemic. 

The district has so far has recorded as many as 3462 recoveries.
