Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) have recovered 22 smuggled buffaloes and nabbed two suspected smugglers.
Based on specific inputs on illegal movement of cattle on NH-06 from Katigorah area towards Meghalaya allegedly for smuggling purposes, the 1st battalion of Border Security Force, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier launched a special operation on Wednesday.

During the operation, one truck (No.NL-01-AE-0348) which was carrying 22 buffaloes from Hilara railway crossing was seized.
Also, during the search operation, two persons with a Maruti 800 car were apprehended.
BSF officials said that the two persons were connected with this illegal transportation of buffaloes.
The official further informed that seized buffaloes along with the truck, car and apprehended persons were been handed over to Katigorah police station for legal actions with a requisition to lodge an FIR.

The BSF troops of Mizoram and Cachar Frontier have seized total 150 cattle since January this year while being attempted for smuggling purposes, said an official.
