Assam: 21 doctors-nurses, 15 bank employees test COVID19 positive in Lakhimpur

The COVID19 scenario continues to remain grim in Lakhimpur district as a large number of persons, including 21 doctors, nurses and 15 employees of banks, have tested positive for the virus.

“A total of 21 doctors and nurses at North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital tested COVID19 positive on Sunday,” sources said.

“Six doctors — two from the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department and one each from the ENT, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia and Dentistry departments of the civil hospital have tested positive for COVID19,” sources added.

Besides, a total of 15 nurses from the same hospital have also tested positive of the virus.

“This surge in COVID19 positive cases among the doctors and nurses has seriously affected the healthcare services in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital,” sources said.

There are trainee nurses at North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital among the COVID19 positive cases.

The banking services in North Lakhimpur have also been hit as more than a dozen of employees of several banks have tested positive for the virus.

Eleven employees of State Bank of India, three from United Commercial Bank, two from Indian Bank and one from Gramin Vikash Bank have tested positive for COVID19 so far.
