Guwahati: Two men were arrested by a team of Assam Police from Karimganj with a huge consignment of suspected Yaba tablets.

As per sources, the police seized nearly 20000 contraband Yaba tablets based on a specific input.

The two accused were nabbed from the Fakirabazar area during a raid.

The consignment is believed to be worth Rs 2 crore in value, a police source said.

It may be mentioned that Yaba tablets are a type of dangerous illegal drug containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.

It is also known as “crazy medicine” in some parts of Southeast Asia, while in some local areas in Assam, it is termed “guti”.

The methamphetamine component creates a strong addiction potential and can cause significant health problems, including heart issues, increased blood pressure, and psychological harm.
