Two persons were arrested from two different places of Jorhat district on charges of drugs peddling and possession of ganja and other suspected psychotropic substances.
The officer-in-charge of Jorhat police station, Ananta Nath stated that 36-year-old Niranjan Debnath of Phansi Ali, Railway Line area was nabbed after a raid was conducted in his house.
The police officer revealed that about 310 gms of ganja and 1.6 grams of suspected narcotics materials were recovered from his possession.
In another drive launched by police, a person, identified as Upen Das of Randhonijan under Pulibor police station in the western outskirts of Jorhat town, was apprehended.
The police officer said approximately 1.985 Kg of ganja was recovered from his possession.
Both the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and the suspected narcotic items were seized.
