Assam police has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals in the Karimganj district on the Tripura border for entering India without valid documents.

According to Karimganj district police, the two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on Saturday from a Guwahati-bound passenger bus (no-AS-01HC-62690).

They entered India via the Agartala-Akahura route without valid documents.

The Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Masum Billah and Sheikh Bappi and they hail from Bangladesh’s Gopalganj area.

“During regular checking at Churaibari border outpost, the police caught the Bangladesh nationals from a passenger bus which was on the way to Guwahati from Agartala,” said a police official.

“During interrogation, they revealed that they entered India from Agartala side without valid documents. Their next destination was West Bengal,” the police official said.

Bangladeshi mobile SIM cards, educational certificates and other items were found on them.

Earlier on October 30, the police apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals from the same area.
