A 19-year-old girl committed suicide in Guwahati’s Patharquarry area after she was allegedly denied permission for a picnic with friends by her parents.
The incident was reported on Monday evening after she was found hanging dead on the ceiling of her room.

Her parents claimed that they were not home when the incident took place.

She was a first-semester student at Guwahati College.

As per some reports, the parents of the girl had barred her from going to a picnic at the Hatisila picnic spot.
After being denied permission, she was allegedly upset and had taken the extreme step.
Although she was taken to a hospital after being found by her parents, she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.

The police, however, has initiated an investigation to ascertain if she committed suicide or if the incident was a murder.
