Normal life was paralyzed in south Assam’s Haflong due to the 12-hour Dima Hasao district shutdown from 5 AM to 5 PM on Monday.
The bandh was called by the Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) demanding immediate bifurcation of the Dima Hasao district with separate autonomous councils under clause (c) of the sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 1 and sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 2 of articles 244(2) & 275(1) of the sixth schedule to the constitution of India.

Except few government offices all schools, markets and banks remained closed.
The streets in Haflong town wore a deserted look as vehicles were off the road.
Although the bandh passed off peacefully, security was tightened to ensure so that no untoward incident happened in the district during the bandh.
