Kamdon Boi

Arunachal Pradesh’s Kamdon Boi on Monday won the first medal for the state in the ongoing 3rd Khelo India Youth Games 2020.

Boi bagged a silver medal in the 66 kg category in the U-21 Boys’ Judo competition on Monday.

While in the first bout he defeated Punjab’s Harpreet Singh, he had to settle for a silver medal after losing to Manipur’s Jagadish Laishram in the final bout.

Arunachal Pradesh, which had so far been lagging behind, had now gone up a notch higher in the Khelo India Youth Games 2020.

However, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim have not yet got a single medal till now.

Among the northeastern states, Manipur is leading with a total of 14 medals including four gold, three silver and one bronze, followed by Tripura with a total of 5 medals including four gold and one silver.

Assam’s medal tally in the Games till now is thirteen – three gold, five silver and five bronze.

Meanwhile, Mizoram has so far gathered three medals- two gold and one bronze- in the Khelo India Youth Games 2020.

At present, Maharashtra is leading the medal tally with 77 medals including 17 gold, 23 silver and 37 bronze medals.
