Arunachal: Heavy rain lashes Siang Valley, mercury dips

The mercury has dipped down in Siang region including East Siang, West Siang, Lower Siang and Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh besides Dhemaji in North Assam as this winter drizzle has lashed the region since Monday midnight.

The Indian Meteorological department made weather forecast that there would be light to moderate rainfall in the Himalayan region for the next few days.

Constant light to moderate rainfall, which came as welcome relief of month-long dry spell in the region, has become a torrential downpour since Tuesday morning.

This in turn has paralyzed normal life of the local residents and adversely affected business activities.

The Incessant rain is creating problems to the commuters. It is also hampering supply of fish and vegetable to the local markets. Torrential rain also led to water logging at several locations and created hardship for plying vehicles on the rural roads.

The region recorded deficit rainfall during monsoon this year but witnessed sufficient rainfall during mid-autumn.

The winter rain is lowering mercury level upto 14 degree Celsius in the region. The weather situation has not improved till 5.00 pm this evening
