A joint initiative was taken up by the Army unit of Red Horns Division in coordination with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Guwahati and other disaster management agencies to prepare for flood relief operations before the onset of monsoon season in Assam.
The training and rehearsal was carried out for seven days at Amingaon on the banks of mighty Brahmaputra and the final demonstration of honed skills was done on Saturday.
The event was witnessed by a large number of military and civil officials. The exercise provided an ideal platform to understand mutual capabilities and foster bonhomie and synergy between personnel of agencies which will be deployed for management of flood relief operaions.
Brig Gaurav Rishi, SC, SM, Commander Invictus Brigade exhorted all participants to understand the delicate nature of such operations and necessity to work as coherent team.
The efforts of NDRF team in demonstrating their equipment and capabilities were acknowledged by military officials. Overall, the joint effort was a huge success and is indicative of continuous efforts of Army and other disaster response agencies to train, plan and prepare for nation building efforts.
