Guwahati: The question papers of the combined civil service (CCS) examinations, conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), will now be available in both English and Assamese.

This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (July 25) evening.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the CCS examination (main), which begins on July 26, will mark a historic first.

For the first time, all exam questions will be available in both Assamese and English, following instructions from the Assam government.

“The Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) starts tomorrow. For the first time in history, all questions will be in Assamese in addition to English, as per government of Assam’s instructions,” said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He added: “Kudos to the Assam Public Service Commission for this historic move.”

This bilingual initiative by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) aims to make the exam more accessible to candidates who are more comfortable with the Assamese language.

The move is believed to level the playing field for Assamese-speaking candidates and ensure that language barriers do not impede their chances of success in the civil service exams.
