In a fresh development, an ACS officer from Dhemaji has resigned as Election Officer on Wednesday.
Dhemaji Election Officer Ramanuj Hazarika tendered his resignation at a time when police have arrested 23 ACS, APS and allied service officials for their alleged involvement in APSC cash for job scam.

Ramanuj was selected in 2015 and belongs to the same batch of the 25 ACS, APS and allied service officials who had come under police scrutiny for their alleged involvement in the scam.
The reason for Hazarika’s resignation is still not known.
On the other hand, the Court of Special Judge here on Wednesday rejected bail petitions of 17 arrested ACS, APS and Allied Service officials.
Further, the Court of Special Judge during the day also remanded four ACS officials to 14-day judicial custody following expiry of their 14-day police remand.

The four officials are Gogamukh Circle Officer Gitali Doley, Nagaon Superintendent of Taxes Sunayna Aideo, Agomoni Circle Officer Badrul Islam Choudhury and Dhubri Labour Inspector Jyotirmoy Adhikari.
