Another pair of pygmy hogs was transferred from the conservation breeding centre of pygmy hog of Bashista to Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati on Wednesday.
According to official sources, Dr Parag Deka, chief veterinarian of pygmy hog conservation project, personally came over on Wednesday to the Assam State Zoo Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden.

Pygmy hog is the smallest of pig species in the world. They are endemic to Manas region of Assam. They are not found anywhere else.
They are an endangered species and the conservation project headed by Gautam Narayan and Parag Deka is doing a good job in their conservation.
Currently in Assam State Zoo, there are two pairs of pygmy hog.
