In a joint operation carried out by Guwahati Police and Kamrup Police, a consignment of heroin was recovered from the Hijubari area of Guwahati.
According to reports, an encounter took place between the police and the drug peddlers.
But four of the drug peddlers were able to escape.
It is suspected that one of the drug peddlers was injured during the encounter.
The market value of the recovered drugs is estimated to be Rs 3 crore.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while sharing pictures of the recovered heroin lauded the efforts of Guwahati and Kamrup Police.
Chief minister Sarma informed that during the operation, the joint team of police was able to recover 0.5 kg of heroin at Hijubari.
“It’s HUGE! In a joint operation by @GuwahatiPol & @KamrupPolice, 0.5 kg heroin has been recovered at Hijubari. Keep up the good work,” chief minister Sarma tweeted.
Guwahati Police while sharing the tweet of chief minister Sarma thanked the CM and informed that the operation against drugs was led by joint commissioner of police, Guwahati and the Kamrup deputy commissioner of police (headquarters).
